Re: V(Z)/LG1 and 27.9.40

Good afternoon: Craig, thanks for your comments. Although this may be of little consequence, I have noted that John Foreman and Theo Boiten, in thier respective works on nightfighters, give credit for a victory on the night of 7-8 sept.41 to certain Uffz. Wolfgang Brendel of 3/NJG3. I/NJG3 was of course the former V(Z)/LG1. Robert, I'm curious if, like me, you attribute Brendel's claim on 27.9.40, as a bordfunker due to his rank? I note that Pilot Hans Swietlik, of 13(Z)/LG1, KIA that same day, was a Gefr. as well. Is this possibly then the same Brendel, subsequently promoted to Uffz.? I am not making any assumptions here, just curious if there may be a connection. Any comments welcomed. Cheers Dean.

There is no Gefr. Brendel in my file.
