KG1 losses BoB

Hi, can anybody help with two losses from this unit so i can update my listings.

29.9.40
He111H-3 V4+FL W.Nr 3336 Crashed at Montdidier during op.sortie 5 crew killed. Any help with crew and functions would be appreciated.

3.10.40
He111H-3 V4+** W.Nr 6923 Crashed on takeoff also from Montdidier, Oblt Gohler and 3 crew killed. A/c said to be destroyed but i have notes that suggest this a/c later went on to serve with KGr.100 , 15% damaged in a crash landing at Dinard 8.4.41!

Any help with crew detail would be appreciated.

Best regs,
Steve.

Steve,

Please note that the WNr of your second query remains unconfirmed.

I./KG1 Heinkel He111H-3 (6923)(5647). Crashed 7 km north of Montdidier shortly after take-off on sortie to London, cause unknown. FF Oberlt Siegfried Göhler, BO Uffz Ulrich Biechteler, BF Fw Oskar Offenauer, and BM Uffz Alfons Thome all killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Re: KG1 losses BoB

Good afternoon Peter, thanks very much for the clarification of the two losses i were seeking, the second W.Nr 6923 or 5647 would appear to perhaps speculate that 5647 may be the correct a/c. lost?

Kindest regs,
Steve.

Re: KG1 losses BoB

Steve speculation would appear to be correct. WNr. 6923 appears in losses in April and October 1941 for KG 100, whereas I only have WNr. 5647 listed the one time for 3-Oct-40. Process of elimination - yadda, yadda....

Re: KG1 losses BoB

Thanks to thenelm 5647 seems confirmed as the correct Werk Nr for the loss on 3 October 1940. My records cease on 31 December 1940 so this is helpful. Over the years, I have collected information on Lw losses from a wide variety of sources most of which I tend to accept at face value until such time as I can confirm them or otherwise - so thanks again.
