BC target 8/9 March 1940?

Hi guys

In connection with my earlier enquiry, does anyone know the target(s) of Bomber Command on the night of 8/9 March 1940, and which squadrons were involved?

Cheers
Brian

Brian,

You can exclude No.3 (Bomber) Group on this night, no op's flown.

Re: BC target 8/9 March 1940?

Hi Steve

Thanks for your response.

However, I have since found that the incident I was researching occurred on 9 March 1941 (not 1940 as reported on Surrey Constabulary's website!!

Cheers
Brian

Re: BC target 8/9 March 1940?

Brian,

Once again no operations flown by No.3 Group on March 8th (B.488) or March 9th (B.489 )1941, all cancelled due to weather conditions.

( Taken Via No.3 Group Summary of Events Air 25/52)

Regards

Steve

Re: BC target 8/9 March 1940?

8/3/41 has the following daylight activity, 9/3/41 nothing day or night

Regards

Martin

139 Sqn Blenheims - Amsterdam 0/1, Borkum 0/2, Den Helder 1, Emden 0/2, Norderney 1 (bombed alternative target), Utrecht 0/1

0/1 = early return or duty not carried out
