Stig,
This all, of course, hinges on when the newly constituted I./LG 1 came into existence, resulting in the original I./LG 1 being redesignated V.(Z)/LG 1. Do you have a date for the formation of the new I./LG 1?
You see, the problem sometimes is that units were somewhat lazy in how their affairs were conducted. Existing stocks of documents might have been used up to exhaustion, resulting in the old designation being used when in fact the new one was applicable. In the Battle of Britain, some redesignated Bf 110 units did not bother to change the Unit code/Staffel letter on their aircraft: the newly-formed II./ZG 2 and III./ZG 76, as well as V.(Z)/LG 1 (Staffel letter only). Even the 1. Staffel of Erprobungsgruppe 210 retained the former 1./ZG 1 code of '2N' on the Bf 110 C-6s they took with them on redesignation and relocation until they took on charge their first fighter-bombers in early August 1940.
I would be most interested to solve this conundrum of the actual date of redesignation to V.(Z)/LG 1.
