Re: Four Pictures

Marc´s source for #4 is Hitchcock´s
Monogram Close-Up 7 Messerschmitt 109G Part 2 (1977)
W.Nr.202113 Bf109G-8/U3 "Green 7"
W.Nr.xxxxxx Bf109G-14 "Blue 8"
W.Nr.xxxxxx Bf 109G-14 "White 2"
Code of Ju87 seems to be +(yellow)KL

(Picture also depicted in Hitchcock´s "O-Nine Gallery")

When Tom Hitchcock captioned the photo he didn't have the benefit of A.I. 2(g) Report No. 269 on Bonn-Hangelar. His use of that photo did inspire me to undertake a lengthy bit of research and write an article though!

You might want to check this page on my website which supplements the A.I. 2(g) with material from Ultra and the Gen. Qu. loss reports.

Adding to what's on the web page, I've since found from Ultra that W.Nr. 463118, a Bf 109 G-14 of EJG 1 was allocated from Bonn-Hangelar on 18 January 1945. Luftflotte Reich's Chief QM was to be notified when the aircraft was taken over.

Re: Four Pictures

Hi Roland,

Sure, I was thinking about "O-Nine gallery", but it's not very important. Although it's noticeable that Hitchcock wasn't wrong on one plane! At least!...

I'm a little bit disappointed that the picture #1 as received so few comments except to say that it is/was a G-?/AS. Is it a new picture of an unkwown plane?

Cheers, Franck.

Re: Four Pictures

Franck,

Interesting about #1 is the apparent overspray of the upper wing surfaces; notice the swirls in the wing edges and the muting of the white on the crosses.
