Re: Early FW 190 listings
The W.Nr. 0110 086 had the call sign GE + QU and not GD + FI (isn't correct in all cases to add the row of signs with the missing letters of alphabet, often there were gaps).

Re: Early FW 190 listings
For WNr. 0045 & 0065 I have the following (the last isn't a loss, but a FB entry):
Fw 190A-1, 10045, Wolf, Uffz. Martin, , , , JGr.West, , , , , 07-Jan-43, Killed in crash., , Lfl.3/FR, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #8)-Vol.13, , südlich Bordeaux, 100%, H, , , Fw 190A-1, 10045, n.n., , III., III., JG 26, , , , , 24-Apr-42, Bruchlandung due to technical failure., WNr. 045 per loss., Lfl.3/Kanal, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #5)-Vol.8; Prien, et al, Die Jagdfliegerverbände, VII, p.400, , Fl.Pl. Wevelghem, 40%, F, , , Fw 190A-1, 10065, Pistor, Uffz. Georg, , III., 8., JG 26, , , , , 05-Dec-41, Sperrflug., , Lfl.3/Kanal, FB, , Fl.Pl. Coquelles, -, F, , , And the loss that Andreas referred to I have transcribed as: Fw 190A-5, 0029, ./., , I., I., SG 101, , , , , 30-Apr-44, Bombenwurf., , Lfl.Reich/FR, BA-MA Signatur RL 2 III/779, Flzg.-Unfälle und Verluste bei Schulen und usw., p.35, , Fl.Pl. Clermont-Ferrand, 100%, H, , , As anyone who has worked with the Schulen losses (Gen.Qu. stuff too) should know, sub types, as listed, are often wrong, not to mention that leading digits of WNr. are oft times truncated. This happens big time with Ju 88s in particular!! Since the A-5 WNr. 410029 was reported as a 70% loss with JG 51 in Oct-43, Andreas is more than likely correct with his listing. |

Re: Early FW 190 listings
Hi Jim,
Thanks very much for the information about those two aircraft - that's some more gaps filled in the listing. Cheers, Andrew A. Air War Publications - www.airwarpublications.com |

Beauvais also gave it as GE+QU, probably the whole GD+Fx is wrong Rémi |

Re: Early FW 190 listings
Thanks, Andrew, for these useful lists. I can add more to the "Sperrflug" discussion. The best definition is "defensive patrol"; the root is from "barrier". JG 26 Flugbücher have many examples in 1941-42 of Sperrflüge over airfields and along railroad lines. They rarely resulted in interceptions, and would normally count as "operational non-combat" flights.
Horrido! Don |
