Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
Rudolf Thomas, pilot of 2./ZG 1 flew airliners for Lufthansa post-war.
Wolfgang Schenck returned to South Africa and was a 'bush' pilot for several years (I suspect this was a euphemism for smuggling all kinds of stuff everywhere, as he was quite a character!). He later joined the new Luftwaffe under NATO. Viktor Mölders became an architect, as did Otto Hintze , Staka of 3./Erpr. Gr. 210. Hans-Joachim Jabs started up his own company from scratch post-war. It was still going strong when Peter Cornwell and I visited him in the mid-1980s. Rudiger Proske, pilot with I./ZG 26 (PoW 18/8/40) became a top executive in German television, based in Hamburg. Georg Jakstadt, pilot of 9./ZG 26 (PoW 27/9/40) returned home post-war into what became East Germany. He was a teacher in East Germany until retirement.

I remember seeing Bert Trautmann playing for Man City at Goodison Park in the 1950s.

Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
"Hajo" Herrmann, as his recent obituaries pointed out, became a lawyer and defended Holocaust Deniers and fringe political folks that ran afould of the Federal Republic's laws.
Always was one for "thinking outside the box" (First Wilde Sau, then ramming, finally this).

Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
Almost all Lufthansa pilots from the early start were either Zerstörer or Nachtjäger....

Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
Leutnant Peter Stollwerck of NSG 9, after an adventurous journey home from Italy:
… A few days later I was working in my old bank like before the war, like nothing had happened. I had the same people around me, who didn’t appear to have changed: they had the same jobs, told the same jokes and moaned about the dreadful situation … |

Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
My uncle, Major Dr. Albrecht Ochs, went back to his law career after getting out of Dachau in 1946, and died as a Landgerichtsdirektor. Oscar Boesch of Sturmgruppe 'Udet' came to Canada and became one of the great glider stunt pilots. Rupert Frost became a farmer on the prairies, as did Wilhelm Moritz, also a Sturmgruppe ace. My old friends Heinz Altendorf, Jupp Buerschgens and Eckehard Priebe all came back to Canada after the war, having spent years here in prison camps.

Re: Luftwaffe Personnel Post War Employment
Ex-NJG6 Nachtjaeger Emil Weinmann emigrated to Canada in the 1950s and worked in the forestry industry in British Columbia before his death in 1999.
