Hi.
Why should there be a problem that an aircraft stationed at Hörnum on the Frisian Island of Sylt reached Ireland? They might have flown via Norway or France for refuelling for all we know. The max range of a BV 138 was close to 4300 kilometers. The war diary of the General der Luftwaffe beim Oberbefehlshaber der Marine states that this aircraft was a 2. Staffel aircraft, and that it was destroyed by the crew after an emergency landing. Ahhh... but I have seen the holy grail! And it is painted RLM 76 all over with a large Mickey Mouse on the side, there is a familiar pilot in front of it and it has an Erla Haube!
