Lt Leopold Wenger crash 17.11.42

Does anyone have information about the aircraft Wenger was flying when he crash landed on 17.11.42?

TIA

Hey Adam,

It was an FW 190 A-2 or A-3 marked 'Blue 13 + ', which Wenger had flown on numerous occasions since 28 August 1942.

Cheers,

Andrew
Most interested to know how you worked out it was Blue 13 for sure as his Leistungsbuch shows he flew Blues 16, 3, 8, 2, 15, 7, 10, 4 from Aug 42 onwards. However, his preferred ac was Blue 13 and admitedly after 17 Nov 42, he began flying Blue 12. No Wk Nr or variant I am afraid

Re: Lt Leopold Wenger crash 17.11.42

Hi Chris,

I've attached a scan of Wenger's logbook entry for 17 November 1942, showing that he flew '13' on this date. He did fly other FW 190s in the period from 28 August to 17 November 1942, but as you say, '13' seems to have been his favourite.

Cheers,
Andrew A.

Thanks Andrew. Interesting that his Flugbuch has turned up (what dates does it cover?) as when we went to his brother, all he showed us was the Leistungsbuch!

Hi Chris,

I thought I'd originally received the logbook copy from you, but obviously not! The copy I have covers flights from 10 May 1941 to 11 July 1943. Please contact me offboard if you'd like a copy.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
