I got this email today-....the clash is a Yak-3 crashed in the 150 Guard Fighter Wing staff from pilot Nyikolaj Sergeyevich Jegorov Guard lieutenant severely damaged, lost a leg and was taken prisoner in Bela-Muzsla (February 19,1945).Some info?

The name listed in the OBD is Gds. St. Lt. Nikolay Sergeevich Egorov (Squadron commander) 150 GIAP: Failed to return from combat mission on 19Feb45 in the region of "Mozhla, Bela/Vengriya".

that's the problem with not being able to read it in the original Russian.
I was forced to translate "Jegorov" as Yegorov" if this borrowed computer would recognize my Cyrillic-enabled keyboard I might have been able to to find Russian sources. |

OK, thanks. IIRC, Lipfert was based in Vesperem then, which is ca. 100km away from the Gran/Esztergom bridgehead. Quite a distance for a 109...

The report on the page obv.memorial says that Stadnichenko was shot down in the village Kaptalak, Czechoslovakia.Kaptalak does not exist, it is Kóspallag and is in Hungary.Kóspallag is about 25 km from the village Muzsla.A date of loss is 14 jan 1945.
