The Irish 3 masted barquentine Cymric was lost between Feb 23 and MArch 26 1944. Cause unknown. Any Allied aircraft reported sinking such a vessel in between Ireland and Bay of Biscay?

Re: irish vessel sink in Bay of Biscay 1944?
Hallo all,
I wish I could add to this story but unfortunately not. I have not found (yet) any information on this loss in the Irish National or Military Archives. The 'Cymric' was last seen on 24 February 1944 passing Dublin. As it was carrying a cargo of coal it probably sank very quickly from whatever source of damage. It almost certainly was not equipped with a radio. Regards, Martin Gleeson. |
