Restored Fw 190

Restored Fw 190 Werk # 173056 " White 14 " JG 11 recently flew
for first time here in U.S. with German Pilot Klaus Plasa.
Does anyone know of any Pilots that flew it in WW II and / or
the Combat History? Any help Appreciated!
Cheers,
Mike

No pilots flew this aircraft in WWII, it was the fourth kit (c/n 990004) built in the 2000s at Flug Werk, Germany.

http://www.flugwerk.de/html/page.php?GID=19&SID=4

It contains a few fittings from 173056

Dave I guess that he means who flew 173056 and not the FlugWerk plane.

Re: Restored Fw 190

I believe 173056 was found abandoned on Reims marshalling yards by the Allies. What on earth a new Flugwerk Fw 190 has to do with 173056, even if you use a few parts allegedly from that a/c escapes me. Probably to give it some kind of authenticity?

Re: Restored Fw 190

That is correct John, it is an adopted ID, but for that needs the data plate from the adopted aircraft to be presented to the FAA.
The remains of 173056 were found some years back buried in the rail yard and found their way to the US, where some were incorporated into the Flug Werk machine now flying.

Re: Restored Fw 190

Hi All,
as far as the FAA is concerned there is no need for a data plate from the original. The Flugwerk Fw 190 is considered an experimental aircraft (or replica) and has its own registration and operating limitations. As an experimental aircraft builder you can use any number for your aircraft as you please. There are absolute no requirements as far as the FAA is concerned.

Regards,

Norbert

Re: Restored Fw 190

Et Al ,
Through Research of the Werk # , The Fw 190 was assigned to JG 11
and given ID of " White 14 ". Asking if Combat History and / or any Pilots
are known from WW II.

Hi Norbert

Interesting. The owner told me he presented the German DP to the FAA in order that he could use that ID, rather than the Flug Werk serial number. This was around 5 years ago though.
No wonder there is so much confusion about this sort of thing
