From the book "The S.E.5 File" an Air Britain publication. D6889 was one of 150 S.E. 5a's ordered under contract No. A.S. 30231 [ or 30281 ?] from Wolseley Motors Ltd, Birmingham and numbered D6851 to D7000. Delivered to 1 AAP Coventry. D6889 - (Viper) engine ( 200hp Wolseley W.4A Viper ); At 1 AAP( aeroplane acceptance park ) Coventry 1.6.1918; 92 Sqdn Tangmere 6.6.1918; To France with Sqdn 2.7.1918; [ A claim for a] 2-Str ( 2 - seater ) OOC (out of control) Armentiéres 19.00-20.00, 28.7.1918 (Lt EV Holland); FTR from 10.00 OP (operational patrol), last seen at 11.10 diving on an EA formation near Cambrai 5.9.1918 (Lt EV Holland POW). Wonder who Holland shot down on the 28.7.1918 ? And Who brought him down on the 5.9.1918 ? All the very best Alex |
