Re: Flakeeins blogspot closed?

Would you be kind enough to give us a preliminary note of what you are up to as regards the translation of LW unit histories?

ummmmmmmmm...if the photos were WW2 German pics, no one has copyright on them, even if they own the original. All German items related to WW2 that normally would have had copyriight lost it in 1945 due to the enemy property act...this includes books, manuscripts, manuals, photos, and anything bearing a swastika..

Hehe...

and the discussion continues.

I believe the main thing to observe here with regards to copyright is that the rules differ from country to country - and that not all countries are a part of the US or Great Britain legally.

Andreas B

Re: Flakeeins blogspot closed?

just to reiterate; there were no 'issues' with the Luftwaffe blog. Here it is back on line. Can't promise too many updates currently though. Can we change the subject now ?

As to current projects - I'm afraid its not really my place to say. Nor do I have any info on likely publication dates, especially in the current climate. (JG 4 Vol II, just released, was translated about four years ago). Sorry.

Hello,

The point being that many German WWII fotos are from private citizens, which the copyright protects, until 70 years after there death.. and rightfully so. The current German goverment owns the rights to WWII German political fotos, also rightfully so.

The problem with western world is that they think they own everything, simply not so.

I'm guilty too, be using 'right click - save'

But on the otherhand fotos like this must be made to exist & teach the good and the bad. Classic catch 22.

Anyways best bet is to get authors permission, or families if author is deceased. I have done this.

Kind regards
