Re: New Osprey series

64 pages in small format? Not too much.

Re: New Osprey series

Yep indeed. Before they launched the series they held a vote in which registered Osprey forum members could vote on e.g. page count. Options were 48, 64 and 96 to keep within already established serial format. I voted for 96, but majority wanted 64.

But, then, the old Profile booklets had 12 or 16 pages in about the same size, and often delivered ecxellent content, while the Monogram Close-Up had 32 pages in a slightly bigger format.

A definite downside is that they are going with the same type of cutaway drawing as with the New Vanguard, i.e. with maybe 50 or less keyed items, when best Mike Badrocke drawn cutaways have over 200 keyed items.

Re: New Osprey series

Best series ever was Profile, done long time ago. It had 12 pages. Excellent magazine from Finland 'Suomi Illmavoimat Historia Lehti' (sorry if I make typo...) have on very start 24 pages but excellent 24 pages!!! I support idea of small publication in many reason...

Cheers

Re: New Osprey series

Srecko, it is "Suomen ilmailuhistoriallinen lehti". And they did a 48-page special issue on the Myrsky fighter and that issue is one of the most thorough aircraft monographs I've ever read, providing technical info that e.g. Pegg's Hs 129 book utterly failed to provide.
