Photo help request!

Gentlemen,
recently I received these two small images, showing a captured Ju 87 and a He 111 (According to their watermark they both belong to the AMC(Sudek13) collection). Does by chance someone has larger copies of them?

Regards,
Christian

Re: Photo help request!

It seems that someone else has intentionally retouched parts of the markings. For example - just enlarge both images twice size and you can see it clearly. Very tricky... So Christian - how you are supposed to find out more without any complete marking ? I would say nearly impossible.

True but I'm fairly confident that the Ju 87 is a machine of NSG 2 which painted its D3 unit code in white. That being the case, it could well be at Straubing as the unit had several aircraft damaged there in late April 1945 and was still based there on the 24th.

Re: Photo help request!

Hm, intentionally omitted markings? Can't see it to be honest. Are you sure this impression can't be credited simply to the low res photos? Nick, which marking practice did NSGr.2 use? Looks like a numeral ("8" or "9") in front of the Balkenkreuz...

BTW: These photos were almost definitely taken at München-Oberwiesenfeld. Attached you find three others from the same source. The one with the civil Ju 52 was also published in "Transporter Vol.2" by Martin Pegg (Classic Publications).

Hi Christian,

the attached section shows what I mean. Definitely been altered with an image program and also very unprofessional. It is not due to the low resolution because it is a partial change as you can see.

Cheers,

Rainer

Ah ok, I see what you mean.

There was a TH+RU, Fw 190 A-6, Werknummer 530937. But I would be cautious about those particularly marked Focke-Wulfs (quite a lot of them where found in the Munich area, unit has yet to be determined) - they do often, but not always fit into known Stammkennzeichen blocks. There is a possibility that some of them were not repainted with their original Stammkennzeichen when being handed over to their unknown parent unit. Photographed examples are "VS+BX 10", "SP+SO 10" and "?F+DE 7" Werknr. 2394 (which should actually be an A-4, "TS+OZ"). On the other hand, their Stkz blocks might also be just unknown as of yet...

Re: Photo help request!

According to Rodeike´s Book "Fw190A, Fw190"Dora", Ta152H" :

Fw 190 A-6 Werknummer 530937 in numberblock 530 901 - 530 960
This A-6 was build by Fieseler, Kassel in october 1943
~60 planes in this month.

What do you think Christian - were these images made after the war or at the end of the war, maybe a scrap yard ?

Re: Photo help request!

All taken after capture by american forces. The aircraft scattered over the airfield were collected in the southwestern corner of the airfield.

Christian
