Question Luft sword

New to forum and looking for info on markings on early Luft sword. Stamped on the bottom of the crossguard is HK/16. The sword came out of an estate sale and was in a WW1 army scabbard so no markings there. Any help would be appreciated, I mostly collect Heer daggers and do not have a clue.
Mark
