I thought so to, possibly a 5 or a 3.
If it's not 7. /JG 26, the only other option is II. / JG 6 I think, but they had yellow numbers with black border.

Great new infos there. If 7./JG 26, then we're looking at Nordhorn Klausheide airfield, that is if the pic is taken after 22 November 1944.

What about II. /JG 2, before the yellow/white/yellow bands were painted on? Does anyone know when JG 2 painted them on?

I'm not sure about this but I think I have read somewhere that the smaller cylindrical type of fuel tank wasn't used much on the eastern front.

If this is correct, and the photo is taken in late 1944, I think that 7. /JG 26 or II. /JG 2 is the most likely candidates.
If it is 7. /JG 26 it could also be taken at Reinsehlen where they took on the Fw 190D-9.

Initial GFW production batch D-9 equipped flat 122 type canopy, such as 600150, and several other samples with unknown W.Nr.
Considering monthly GFW production (1:Oct.44, 40:Nov.44, 105: Dec.44, 34 Jan.45, from the SAF4) 600150 probably completed in late Nov.44.
The GFW bird on the front line seems like equipping blown 1025 type canopy, almost likely completed in very late Nov. or Dec.44.

Therefore, this photograph was taken in mid or late Dec.44, I suppose.
If the photograph was taken in autumn, both types of canopies were applied since initial GFW production.
