Hello!

I suppose East Carelia (Karelia) might be better name for what you are after. See this Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Karelia

The map has silly name "West Karelia" which I have not seen before and have never heard used. Laatokan Karjala - Ladoga Karelia and Karjalan Kannas - Karelian Isthmus are the more familiar names to me.

Note that in Russian sense East Karelia is yet different from the Finnish viewpoint. Not explained in the English Wikipedia, but is there in the Finnish Wikipedia article.
