Hallo,
If you look at the control surfaces of this airplane, you will notice there is a gust lock still in place. So, it was photographed while on the ground in its own airport. No last flight, no last pilot, just captured by the GIs.. Best, Andrea |

Fairly sure that it is a Junkers Ju 88 G-6. You have miss-typed the WNr. in your post. It should be 621049. I have records of Ju88G-6 either side of this WNr, but cannot find this one at present. Ian |

I corrected the # Ty Andrea, Very possible is was a captured aircraft. His father did serve in a US armor division stationed near Berlin just before the Russians mounted their final assult on Berlin, but the photo could have been taken anytime. |
