Re: ME 262 identification

Yep ...

Sorry, the one nearby the Bf110G with white ring on nose seems to be WNr.111617, White 9.

Thank you whatever, without that thread it could have taken much more time to discover it.

So: Left one: 500516?

Regards, Franck.

Re: ME 262 identification

I'm happy to contribute. The pic came up during a search for German dive bomber......
I'm trying to get a better understanding of airfield names and where pics were taken. I was reading about Brunnthal, Germany today which is said to be the collection site 12 miles south of Munich on the A8 Autobahn. http://lostimagesofww2.com/photos/places/brunnthal.php would this be the munich-riem site?

Hi, FYI,
München-Riem is located just a few miles EAST of Munich center and was a major aerodome. It was designed 1940 to replace the first civilian airfield in München-Oberwiesenfeld (the site of today's Olympic Village and Sportsarena). Brunnthal was just an alternate or shadow airfield.

Re: ME 262 identification

The distance between Riem and Brunnthal are some 15.5 kilometers...

Re: ME 262 identification

Second "Munchen-Riem" foto is taken at Brunnthal, exactly in the scrapyard near the Autobahn.

Re: ME 262 identification

Hi Franck,

a couple of white 9:

http://www.xn--strahljger-w5a.de/html/buch.html

Do a google pic search for gotterdammerung luftwaffe wrecks and relics. The book cover shows white 9, white outline 34, and white f lined up. This should help with your thumbnail question

As for the second thumb, maybe. The rudder trim tab on both pictures are kicked over to the right and damage on the windshields seem to match.

About the best I can do with zooming in my browser.

Re: ME 262 identification

Just a little update if the two pictures haven't been linked together in the past.

http://i646.photobucket.com/albums/u...0DJunkJV44.jpg

in this color picture is a small aircraft under the nose of the Dora (picture angle) and note angle of the Dora's props......

http://mrjohnsonssclasses.wikispaces...376/me262.JPG#

in this pic, the Dora prop is in view at the top left of the pic and the small plane is near the right wing of the 262.

any thoughts?
