No, not all. While not accurately illustrated, the Focke-Achgelis Fa 223 did see operational use during World War II. There was an eBay photo of this helicopter hovering over an Me-109 in a field during the war. It had a cable hanging from beneath.
In a book which is buried in a box somewhere, there is a report that German engineers during the Vietnam War told their American military employers that the Germans used helicopters as transports during the Second World War by slinging equipment beneath. The Americans didn't believe this so the Germans showed them how to do it. That is why you can find photos of Vietnam era helicopters with a piece of light field artillery slung under the helicopter for transport over jungle terrain. Ed |

There is also a little similarity to the artist impressions of the Fa 284 which surfaced after the capture of the Breguet factory.
