Thanks for that Marc. I noticed some pictures provided by Peter D from LEMB has the same W.Nr. noted for a G-6 & G-14/as.

Looks like my subject, W.Nr.785 750 has a replaced stabilizer on the Port side and repairs done on the Starboard side. Hard to tell if it used the 20cm extension on the tailwheel. I looked at the others with W.Nr. 785 xxx and it seems to be a mixed bag of long/short, and different camouflage schemes. I wonder if these 109's with the last 4 digits of the W.Nr. that are painted or stamped onto the fuse were only done on repaired aircraft.

Hallo Oberst,

After checking the known informations about the use of stamping the W.Nr. last four digits on the rear fuselage, I only find this practice at the Bodenwöhr-Cham assembly line, to be found on all newly produced fuselages. This practice might have been also used at the Gaunting production line.

1/ In the MTT built G-14 file we can find ... 4? 5? 785xxx. Not much. Nothing to deduce something.

2/ OK for the sub-assembly line(s).

Hmm ... In that case, how can we recognize a "MTT Regensburg" camouflage? They did use same stencils from one sub-assembly line to another one? And that scheme had to fit with other parts coming from another sub-assembly line.
If not, number (WNr. extract) was painted before than covered in the final paint shop?

Yes? No?.. Sometimes I feel lost with headache.

@ Franck, in regards to sub assembly plants, one thing that comes to mind is the RLM 79(?) brown fin and rudders that come on planes that are primarily RLM 74 or 75 & RLM 81? That's a mismatch, no?

RLM 79? Maybe you´re talking about RLM 81.
I´m not convinced about this combination. Maybe green and grey have been mixed up when applying the paint by stencils. We must take into consideration that fins and rudders were prefabricated by timber-processing industries. Small workshops and spread all over the Reich with little or no experience in a/c production.
