Re: Fate of " 1G+DK" from KG27

Presume you mean days/weeks before the loss?! Must have been one hell of a lens-presumably PK-photo?

Yes , that is right Chris . The photos was taken only a few weeks before the loss of "1G+EK" . The photo was taken from another HE111 and from the angle I believe from the upper rear gunners position . Not sure if it was a PK photo but who ever took it did a super job . The photo will be published in our upcoming book .

If I sound sceptical, it is with good reason, so perhaps you could examine that "super job" picture of the 1G+EK and maybe it shows a W.Nr. on the fin and possibly also identify the type of He111 ( ie the mark). Roche shows at least four 1G+EK listed of various types. It would be helpful.

Re: Fate of " 1G+DK" from KG27

Tony , from the other material and photos I have from Toni Boehner's family I am pretty sure I have the right plane but like you rightly said I am not 100% sure . However , Toni has clearly marked some of the photos with arrows showing himself in the glass nose of the HE111 . It would be unlikely that he flew in two HE111 that bore the same codes ! I believe replacement codes were only issued after losses . Are there other photos out there showing HE111's with the codes 1G+EK ?

You are "pretty sure" "I am not 100% sure" confusing?
Can you tell us the type of He111 (the 1G+EK) and is there a W.Nr visible on that great picture you say you have.If visible then we can be certain if it is the Heinkel lost off Ireland.

Maybe we should try the website "confused.com" Tony !
The HE111 is a "H" model and you will just have to wait and see the photo in our book when it comes out this year . I am happy to use it and it come direct from Toni Boehner's family . We can only do our best when researching and it is not always possible to satisfy everybody with our findings .
I have other photos from Toni also that show other HE111 from KG27 .
