Despite his reservations, Franck's ID posted on 2 July was correct. This is indeed FIEL's aircraft as follows:

2 October 1940 8./JG53 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4 (5901). Radiator damaged in attack by Sgt G.J. Bailey of No.603 Squadron during bomber escort sortie over North Kent and belly-landed with engine seized at Addelsted Farm, East Peckham, 10.15 a.m. FF Oberlt Walter Fiel (Staffelkapitän) captured unhurt. Aircraft Black 7 + ׀100% write-off.

Hello,

Thanks Peter.
Sure I was - I'm sure a 100% - but as explained by Bill it wasn't the subject!...
I'm just wandering how Jim didn't know that plane?

But it's OKAY. No problem.

Regards, Franck.

I didn't recognize the photo, and like you (I think it was) I was looking for a little more white/yellow color on the lower left side cowling. Looking it at the photo again I think I can make out the red cowling band, though there isn't a lot of contrast in the b/w print.
