Re: Some photos 1-21

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the orthographic correction but I will stay with Prien's one which is Prasznicze, mine was seller one.
I Wonder if Rote 6 was involved in this take-off accident since they were from 4./ZG 1; Rote 6 being in 5./ZG 1.
Prien is not that clear about this last one and I realise I did follow the seller's own caption.
Hence, maybe Rote 6 wasn't accidented in Przasnysz() at all ...

Again. Prien is talking about a Bf 109 E ... It seems to me that we can see a gun fairing on "top" of the wing, then an E-3. (?)

Regards, Franck.

Re: Some photos 1-21

Hello Franck, my apologies if i missed your New Year greeting but i haven't had access to my PC for some time. Im afraid ive been a victim of stupid internet geeks and my computer is now cursed! with a virus. However, a belated Happy New Year to you.

Thanks for the information on ZG1, is this then an a/c of 4/ZG1 and not red 6+- ?

Robert, thanks for the reply on the four losses destroyed. Do you have an exact date during Sept 1939, and any other identities or pilots involved.

Kindest regs,
Steve.

robert is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Some photos 1-21

Hi Steve,

the answer is very simply: a Bf109E from 4./ZG1 swung off on takeoff and rammed 3 parked Bf109s of 5./ZG1.

Regards

Robert

Re: Some photos 1-21

@Steve
No problemo!
Yes an aircraft from 5./ZG 1 AND "Red 6".

@Robert
My only source is Prien ANd Larry if I remember well since we already talked about this plane/accident.
Prien did effectively mention the four 4./ZG 1 machines in his loss list for the period, while, concerning 'Rote 6' he is talking about a non specified accident but no relation with the other four.

So, what is your source??

Regards, Franck.

Re: Some photos 1-21

Good morning Robert and Franck, thanks for your replies.
Everything appears clearer now.
Does Herr Prien not record the date in his JGFVB VOL 1. purple series.
Best regs,
Steve.

Re: Some photos 1-21

No Steve,
Only 00.09.1939.
More :
One machine : 4./ZG 1 – Start ausgebrochen, Prasnicze, b
Three other machines: II./ZG 1 von ausgebrochener Bf 109 E der 4./ZG 1 gerammt, Prasnicze,b
Well… Thanks Steve for the request. Like that it’s clearer since one 4./ZG 1 machine did provoque an accident colliding with three II./ZG 1 machines. Not four 4./ZG 1.

Concerning Rote 6 from 5./ZG 1:
Photo caption:

As I told you before it’s not even certain this accident is linked with the other … Just seller information.

more photos ...

One, obviously a Bf 109 E-1 but no number visible ... I kept 5. Staffel but ??
The second, obviously a Bf 109 E-3, Rote 1, from 5. Staffel ... Not 4./ Staffel!

Cheers, Franck.

Back ...

And another one.
Same comment than previous. I kept 5. Staffel following Seller information but can be 4.

Franck.

Re: Some photos 1-21

Hi Franck, thanks for your update on this incident and New Years present of photos from the event! Very nice.

I agree with you on photo No1, Bf109E-1 no code visible, only clue perhaps indicating 5/ZG1, red tip to spinner, but i guess this could also signify red for II/ZG1?

Photo No2, yes definately BF109E-3 red 1+ , didnt this unit paint their a/c numerals in red and white outlines to black numerals, im sure i remember this practise!

Kindest regs,
Steve.
