Re: Jg301, 2/3/45

Andreas,

thanks for providing the loss table on JG301's operation on 2/3/45. Unfortunately, when comparing your list with Willy Reschke's listing, one gets at least 37 different aircraft, as it seems.

The most significant differences seem to be in IV. Gruppe, with W. R. mentioning G-10 610 100 Red 4 (Uffz. Alfred Appel) and 491 200 Yellow 7 (Fhr. Harald Ruh) additionally. On the other hand, 150 087, 150 734, 150 750, 150 781, 150 841, 150 843, 491 171, 491 241 and 491 298 are not to be found in W. R.'s book.

Minor differences on the Focke-Wulfs as well, for example 980 582 and 500 431 are given as II. Gruppe machines, 500 560, 205 941, 206 125 and 980 169 are not listed in W.R.'s book at all. For 2 a/c no Wk.Nr. is to be found there, A-9 of Fhr. Heinrich Lieb and D-9 of Fhr. Hans Geban.

Can you or anybody else shed some light on the discrepancies, especially on the two G-10s not included in your list (are there probably other loss dates for these examples in your data base)? Both pilots are listed as KIA, so their mounts should be total write/offs as well?

Thanks in advance

Matthias

Hi all,

thanks Eric for nice words about the book I am happy that you enjoyed reading and it also added some info to your collection.
Erich, I obtained memories of 352.FG veterans from combat reports. I was in touch with 352.FG historian, who provided these copies and also contacted few pilots...
My source of Luftwaffe loisses was based on list obtained from Bundesarchiv, provided by Jiri Rajlich. I did not check with Resches loss list...
Hope you will enjoy the book and any updates are always welcomed, as I made web site with additions at

greetings

Re: Jg301, 2/3/45

Hi, All

I will try to post the individual links to the loss records when I get around to it.

Note that these records are from the GenQu 6Abt, quite late in the war, and there would most probably be corrections to a fair number of them not included because the records have been destroyed or are missing.

One has to go through each of these carefully, and try to match up what is correct.

As for the G-10's not appearing in my list, these might very well have been reported AFTER April 1st, and are thus today only available if You research other sources than the GenQu6Abt documents (stuff like unit diaries, personnel loss records and so on)

Hopefully we can correct and add new information to our databases and the result will be a more or less complete 'picture' of what happened this day (and others...)

Regards,
Andreas
