I'm looking for dates (and locations, if possible) of victories scored by VMF-216/217 pilots (and the pilots' squadron assignment) in February 1945, when they served aboard USS Wasp.
The list of pilots with air victories at the end of February 1945 is as follows but some of these victories must have been scored before that month: Capt. Robert Read: 1 Betty, 1 Rufe Lt. Charles Cochran: 1 Judy Lt. Vernon Salisbury: 1 Zeke Lt. James Seay: 1 Oscar Lt. William Stratton: 1 Zeke One more question: one 17th February 1945 the Wasp Corsairs reportedly attacked (sank?) a light aircraft carrier in Yokohama Harbor. Did they really, and if so, what was the name of the ship? |
