Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

I've read in several printed sources that a couple of Dewoitine D.520s landed (by error, or by purpose?) in Switzerland, while en-route from France to Bulgaria in late 1943 (which I personally doubt).

Can anyone confirm if this claim is correct, or not?

Thanks,

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

Seeing as the Swiss were keen to intern ANY aircraft that entered Switzerland whether Allied or German, no matter how secret or common, the lack of any D.520s on the list I have of Swiss Aircraft, suggests that this story is untrue.

Thank you, Larry, for the confirmation that no D.520 is listed as interned in Switzerland. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

Hello Dénes & Larry,
It's been 8 years since your discussion on the subject & I've been recently reading again about two pilots "deflecting" to Switzerland on the transfer flight to Bulgaria, and I wonder if there were any news on the subject in these years or it's just an old story repeating over & over again (just like Romanian D.520s story too)?
Best,
Milos

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

I researched the topic in depths and found no evidence that Bulgarian pilots defected to Switzerland. So, it appears to be a misinformation that circulates for quite a while. As they say: "old myths die hard".

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

Just a thought .But could these two aircraft have been M.S. 406C -1 's. The Swiss did use quite a few. Maybe the ferry pilots were Bulgarian ?

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

Bulgaria didn't have MS.406s. Croatia did.

Re: Dewoitine D.520 in Switzerland?

Hello Denes,
You misunderstood me.
The Swiss initially had ex French a/c and my point was that perhaps the ferry pilots were Bulgarian delivering the aircraft to either Croatia or Switzerland.
