Do 18 Losses 17 Oct 39

Were there two losses on this date-I know of one (detailed in 'Fledgling Eagles') but was there another i.e one from KuFlGr 606 and another from KuFlGr 906? If so, can anyone confirm crew details?

Hi Chris,

I only have details of 8L+DK werke number 0000 809 for the 17th. I have details of two on the 9 October and one for the 7 November but nothing else. The November loss is from KuFlGr 906. Perhaps this is the one your looking for?

Alex

Hi Chris,

Only the one Do18 lost on 17.10.39 as documented by Shores although the QGM Returns suggests that it was brought down by flak from an enemy destroyer. Full crew in case you don't have them: Oberlt z See Siegfried SALOGA, Fw GRABBET, and Unterfw ? (according to A.I.1.(k)) Hilmar GRIMM all captured. Uffz Kurt SEYDEL picked up dead & buried in Portobello Cemetery, Edinburgh, Grave 163 Section R on 20.10.39 - later reinterred in Cannock Chase Block 3, Grave 478.
