Re: SKG/10, Night of 6/7.09.43.

Joe: There was a local Bury St Edmunds newspaper report on the crash which might help further as I am sure that it mentioned that the pilot was highly decorated. Circumstantial evidence would indicate that Breier came down in the sea and Geisler on land but that is not enough to get a tombstone changed. Any coroner's reports or reports for RAF Honington/Stradishall (which would have been the closest airfields)?

Chris,

Thanks for that info, was there a Luftwaffe equivalent of a RAF Sqn ORB?

Joe.

KTB-Kriegstagebuch or war diary. Sadly, I have not seen one for I/SKG 10

Re: SKG/10, Night of 6/7.09.43.

Tr.O is as Chris stated an abbreviation for Truppenoffizier, an officer that had gone the usual track through the Kriegsschule courses to become a professional officer.

The other possible variant is Kr.O or Kriegsoffizier, personnel that were promoted to officers rank because of their actions during wartime. (some of these also attended officer courses of different kinds)

Regards,
Andreas

Thanks to Chris & Andreas,
Are there any surviving KTB-Kriegstagebuch's, and if so, where?
Regards
Joe.
