He 111 Crash-Landing at Villingen

Does anyone have a record of such a crash-landing in the Spring/Summer of 1940. Ac appears to be from KG 53 and in the background is a factory

Hi Chris,

Is it an Heinkel of the 4./KG53? If so I may have the fuselage code.

Regards, Thomas

Thomas
Code is not visible. Why do you say 4/KG 53?

Re: He 111 Crash-Landing at Villingen

hi Chris,

As I read your description a photo came to mind which has a factory in the background. Villingen? I don't know. The Heinkel lies with his port side to the factory and bears the shield of the 4th Staffel. I'm pretty sure the code is A1+AM. Will check this tonight.

Don't know if this is the plane you are looking for...

Could you maybe show the picture? What makes it appears to be KG53?

Regards, Thomas

Confirm factory with chimneys to the left of the ac, code appears A1 but no other markings visible

Hello,

Here are four photos of what I think that you're talking about here from the EoE Photo DB. The one with the factory on the left shows enough of it that someone ought to recognize where this is--which hopefully will lead to a full ID.

There are hills in the background of a couple of these. Is that consistent with Villingen?

Re: He 111 Crash-Landing at Villingen

Hello,

Ok, now do these photos give us a confirmed location? Can this be at Villingen, or is the factory and terrain somewhere else? Who recognizes this area and the details of this factory?
