Seen at 2000 m over Deldbach, Lake Zürich, heading toward Etzel. North of Einsiedeln it turned north, flew over the Sihl-See and losing height, crashed at a shallow angle on the Hirzegg [a hill]. A/c broke up completely, having brought down 120 fir trees. Investigators found the fuel tanks empty and the port prop feathered, suggesting engine failure. No battle damage. No crew.
