Re: Paris.

Dear All,

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Each state now has a National Guard. There no longer exists a rationale for individual citizens the right to bear arms. At the time this amendment was written, the U.S. had a very weak central government and had to rely on its citizens to come to its aid in defense of the U.S. through well regulated Militias which, today, is a role each state's National Guard provides.

Beyond this, let us continue to mourn the losses in France and to hunt down the perpetrators.

Regards,
Richard

Oh? What if they want to? Do you really think you will solve the "gun problem" by banning the sale of guns and confiscating the 300-million that are already in private hands? Making guns illegal will go the same route as making drugs illegal has gone over the past decades - nowhere. If you want another civil war in the country, try confiscating the citizen's guns, including mine.

Re: Paris.

Dear Larry,

Just don't use the second amendment as justification for owning a gun. And, exactly, what do we need 300 million guns for? Check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number...ita_by_country.

Regards,
Richard

Re: Paris.

Looks like I stirred things up when I started this topic. So to our French friends I'm sorry this turned into what it has become.

Now I would be happy to debate anyone on some of the silly comments that I have read that are based on a lack of real knowledge on the subjects being discussed. But let's do it via PM.

My continued best to those in France. It looks like it will be a long battle.

Re: Paris.

Dear Chuck,

It looks like a second plot targeted at Paris has been foiled. This is good news.

Richard

Re: Paris.

OK, aside from Nick, I and Ruy have been watching this thread. It has definitely turned from sympathy for Paris, et al, into a political discussion where issues are never solved or even abated. As Nick stated this site is not a flame war site. Go elsewhere for that.

Any more posts about who's at fault in the world, etc., and I will be the "bad" moderator and close this thread.

Also, keep in mind that a member/poster can be banned from a week to permanently.
