Ofw. Johann Merz (07.01.1944)
Can anyone confirm that Ofw. Johann Merz (04.05.1916 - 07.01.1944) buried Ysselsteyn BM-4-78 was in the same a/c with Hptm. K. Rieger. (?? – 07.01.1944) buried Ysselsteyn BM-4-77.
Ju 88 C-6, Wnr.720116 of 4./NJG 2 that came down in or near Deelen on 7th Jan 1944. Tia, Bas Maathuis Last edited by Bas Maathuis; 28th December 2015 at 12:54. Reason: Rieger i.s.o. Rieder |

Re: Ofw. Johann Merz (07.01.1944)
I have both in this Ju 88 C-6, 720116. Both were from NJG 101, which makes me to think that it was some sort of training flight to teach school personnel new tricks. Although Merz was a pilot, his position was Bordschütze.
