1942-02-05: U-105 rescued crew of a Dornier Do 24
U-105 (Krvkpt Heinrich Schuch) rescued all seven crewmen of a Dornier Do 24 in M.Qu. BE 6724 (approx. 46°21'N, 15°25'W, about 330 nautical miles north-west of Cape Finisterre, Spain) at 1330hrs on 5 February 1942. The U-boat had survivors from the German blockade runner SPREEWALD aboard, one of them urgently needed medical aid so the flying boat was sent to pick him up, but crashed during landing. The crew was taken off and the aircraft scuttled.
