Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone out there may have some information regarding Ernst Reitmeyer who served with NJG 5. Not sure if he survived the war?

Regards,

Melvin

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi Melvin,

Fw. Ernst Reitmeyer flew with the 3./N.J.G. 5. He and his crew bailed out by parachute on the evening of 5 March 1945 after engine trouble with his Ju 88 G-6. No-one was hurt.

What is the reason of your question ?

Rgds,
René

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi Rene,

Someone sent me a couple of photos of him but could not find a NVM report in my files. Will eventually create a page for him on our website.

Regards

Melvin

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Would his aircraft be Wnr.622815 which crashed at Brotterode? Anyone have the rest of the crew details?

Thanks,

Melvin

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi Melvin,

no personal loss no NVM. Yes his a/c was the 622815. BF Ofw. Schmeidler, BF N.N., BS Uffz. Bär.

I would be interested in photographs of him and/or his crew.

Rgds,
René

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi Melvin,

Ofw. Ernst Reitmeyer survived WWII; he had 18 confirmed and four unconfirmed victories to his credit whilst serving in 1./NJG5 and 3./NJG5. In the NJWD 2nd edition, I have fully documented all of his victories.

I'd be interested in what photos that you have of him -I have two portrait pictures of Reitmeyer.

Cheers, Theo

Re: Ernst Reitmeyer NJG 5

Hi Theo,

I also have two portrait photos, these came from Dr. G Reitmeyer via Jörg Helbig
Auerbach / V. So we probably have the same images!

I would be interested in the list of his victories if possible?

I am now off to search for the Handke & Petz images!

Regards,

Melvin
