Re: Captured P-39 Airacobra - MTO area
Received info that Capt. Oliver was of the 93rd FS. On 15 Jan 1943 15 P-39's of the 81st FG took off from Atchem to Port Lyautey (Morocco).
During the flight Capt Oliver left the formation and it was not known then if he had managed to get back to the UK or was forced down enroute. Because the Germans made him POW, there's a possibility that Capt. Oliver had drifted over France. And got a P-39/400? But this needs further confirmation. Regards, Leendert |
