What I found interesting on that site was the picture of the copy of the missing aircrew report from Fold 3. It listed the serial numbers of the engines and weapons. Since you found one of the engines you could use that information as verification of the B-17 which crashed.
I don't have a premium subscription to Fold 3 so I can see the larger picture of the report.
I'm looking into some USAAF parachute manuals to see what the minimum height for bail out would be and let you know.
