Information concerning loss of Obergefreiter Georg Merl - killed 23.05.42
Hi,

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Obergefreiter Georg Merl who was a member of a bomber crew and was killed over the East on 23rd May 1942?

He was an experienced flier with the EK I and Flight Battle Badge.

Gen.Qu. loss return 30 May 1942 item 127 with corrections from 24 Jun and 17 Sep 1942:
23.5. III./KG 27 Feindflug, Ort: Bunakewo-Bonatzky, Ursache: unbekannt, He 111 H-6 4307 1G+KS 100%.
F Lt Gust, Jürgen +
B Ogefr Merl, Georg +
Bf Gefr Kneisel, Heinz +
Bf Ogefr Sassenberg, Fritz +
Bm Ogefr Langer, Erich +.

Zippy , thanks for the details , does the KG27 loss list make any mention of Merl being wounded/injured on the 16th. Aug. 1940 in the crash landing of He 111P-2 wn2657 returning from England with combat damage ,
