Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Hi, Brian and Adam
Please see link for the loss record of this aircraft: http://www.ahs.no/ref_db/lw_loss_pub...?lossid=109433 The aircraft Werknummer was originally reported as being 67, but then corrected to 0069. I suspect that your 61 comes from a bad copy of the loss record, Brian. I see that I haven't updated this loss record after I got a better copy myself, so I will do this with regards to the name of the co-pilot. Regards, Andreas |

Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Hello Andreas,
do you have another loss for F8+BB? I know a photos of the F8+BB lying on the airfield, broken wings and the bombs around the plane, so I guess that the a/c crashed when starting! We have no complete loss in this case. Regards, Sven. |

Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Hi Adam,
All I have on 12-3-43 is 0133 60% damaged in T/O accident at Merignac (from notes). For the 19th.I have a copy of the verlustlisten which gives F8+IK w/n 0128 crew of Oblt. Erich Schlebach missing, Regards Brian |

Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Thanks Brian, although I have 133 as 60% damaged in a landing accident at Vaernes on 26.8.42 (which I always though constituded a total loss). There must be something seriously wrong with my data entry skills!

Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Hi, Hohentwiel
Well, chances are that it could prove difficult to find 'your' F8+BB, as the situation might well be that the loss you have seen a photographs of is one of a number of 'anonymous' losses when concerning the aircraft code. As you will notice, the only situation were the codes are mentioned in the GenQu lists are when the aircraft and crew is considered missing. The other source for codes are usually the Namentliche Verlustemeldungen. So - given that your aircraft were damaged on an airfield it would not be posted missing, and if the crew were unhurt, there will be no Namentliche Verlustemeldung. So, your only hope then would be other sources or maybe a date on the back of the photograph... And as the codes were reused - you cannot be certain that another loss for an aircraft with a known Werkenummer is the one you are looking for! Regards, Andreas |

Re: Fw 200 F8+BB of KG 40
Hi Andreas,
thank you very much for your answer. I hope it is possible to find more new informations later. I only can say that the photo was taken between 7.40 and 10.42 in Bordeaux-Merignac. The a/c flew only one mission against England before (documented at the rudder). And at 2 photos in an old Podzun-Pallas magazine (Waffenarsenal 131) we can see the nickname "Jupiter" at the nose of the F8+BB. Is this a help? Regards, Sven. |
