Re: Luftwaffe Air Combat Slang
I suppose Kaczmarek (wingman) is the best known — but what is its origin? Someone in fiction, or a cartoon character maybe?
Amis, Tommis, Ivans for opponents. Mühle (mill) for an aircraft (or just the engine?) Aal (eel) for Torpedo For veterans of NSG 9, serving in Italy, a Staffelkapitän was “der Capitano”. Last edited by Nick Beale; 10th December 2022 at 12:22. Reason: Correction (with thanks to Bernd barbas) |
