I believe his name was Jefferson Davis Dorroh, Jr.
He started flight training while in college. A date I found (possible when he joined the Naval Reserve) was 9 July, 1941. https://www.newspapers.com/image/969...301.1707176564 The above seems to say he was to be commissioned (in the Marine Corps) upon completion of flight training. The date when he retired was in April, 1963.
