Lt. Michael Moffitt - 82nd TRS, 71st TRG

I'm looking for a biography or any info about Lt. Michael Moffitt of 82nd Tactical Reconaissance Squadron, 71st Tactical Reconnaissance Group, flying a P-39 Q-6 Airacobra from Saidor, New Guinea, Spring 1944.

Re: Lt. Michael Moffitt - 82nd TRS, 71st TRG

Name Michael F. Moffitt (O-674848) appears in several Morning Reports. Examples:

Nov 1943: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/4564...ect-thumb--411

Dec 1943: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/4597...ect-thumb--672

His Award Card: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/1334...ject-thumb--27
Card says he was from Tampa, Florida (1918-2004)

Regards, Leendert

Re: Lt. Michael Moffitt - 82nd TRS, 71st TRG

According to AAIR he had a mid-air with a tow target in P-39N (42-18900) over Keesler Field (Biloxi), MS when in 30th TRS, 75th TRG (Key Field, MS). Date 25 Oct 1943.

Not sure if same Moffitt, but after WW 2 he was flying B-29s out of Japan, 1950-1951.

It appears that present day Tampa's MacDill AFB, Florida has a "Michael Moffitt Visitor Control Center", handling access to the base.

Regards, Leendert
