The loss and claim sections of the book JG 301/302 "Wild Sau" Willi Reschke have:
Keil last claims 2 Yak-9s over Berlin 21 April 1945 and they don't have him KIA or MIA so I would say he most likely survived the war.

I think you're right. Jean-Yves Lorant and Bernard Frappé's 1981 book Le Focke Wulf 190 includes Keil in the list of "special thanks to …" and in the Ta 152 chapter they write: "'As we reached an altitude of about 10,000 metres' Ofw. « Jupp » Keil recalled after the war …"

Incidentally, Axel Urbanke's article about III./JG 301 and the Ta 152 in Luftwaffe im Focus 29 found cases where Keil's Flugbuch entries didn't match with official situation reports etc.

Hello,

thank you very much for the answers, my question was born when ofw. Keil and died when. Because with these information, unfortunately, it would have been to let me get the personnel files at the Federal Archives in Berlin.
I know the Heft Air Force in Focus N ° 29, helped the article, and was also mentioned in the booklet.

I also have the complete flight book by OFW. Josef Jupp Keil, which I had received from the son

Frank

According to Johannes of "Luftwaffe Aces Biographies", Kiel was born on 26 July 1918, survived the war and died on 17 July 1979. I have no other information/source to confirm these dates.

Keil had reportedly flown with 8./JG3 in 1940 being severely WIA on 2 Nov 1940 (EKM 57218/8), becoming an instructor before returning to operations in the latter half of 1944 with JG301. Does the Flugbuch cover this earlier period of operations with 8./JG3 ?

Regards,

Craig...
