Re: Help identifying airman lost over Norway 1944
Hi,
In the phot odated 15.09.41 he is seen as a Flieger. Could he have been promoted to Uffz. by 1944? Rick |

Rick
Entirely possible he would have been promoted to Uffz . As far as I can see from what I have from a list of losses in Norway Biberger's Condor was the only complete loss on 14th August 1944 . The only other was a He 115 C of 1/406 damaged 20 % . I copied your attached document so could read the notes at the top which as you say shows pilot lost in Norway which makes Uffz Hellmut Meyer born 27.10.1921 a likely candidate for the airman you seek , Regards Brian |

Re: Help identifying airman lost over Norway 1944
Hi,
Step is an abbreviation for the first name Stephanie. The writing means that Hellmut (Flieger Hellmut Meyer) had dedicated the photo to his little Step. Literally translated "To my little Step as a reminder from Hellmut Grossenhain, 15.9.41". Regards Leo |
