Wellington(s) damaged in air combat over Schleswig-Holstein 11-12 May 1941?

Dear all,

I am looking for any info on one, perhaps two, Wellingtons that were damaged in air combat with German night fighters over Schleswig-Holstein on 11-12 May 1941, ca. 01.15-01.45 hrs.

Any help/info much appreciated!

Cheers, Theo

Thanks Richard, but these two were both lost on the previous night, and I'm looking for a/c that returned damaged on 11-12 May 1941. These were four Wellingtons Cat A and AC damaged in fighter attacks, and a Whitley Cat. B damaged (reportedly due to Flak).

Cheers, Theo

Of interest I have Schoenherr's silver abschuss cups for his kills 9 May 41 (Wellington) and 11 May 41 (Blenheim)

Hello Martin,

Thanks a lot for sharing these interesting and helpful details.

I would like to have the details from the 311 Squadron ORB/Combat Report(s) for the two Wellingtons of 311 Sqn that returned damaged, can you supply me with these?

Cheers and thanks, Theo

Hello Theo

I do not have any more than what is in the ORB which you can download

Having done some extra reading I come to the conclusion that T2971 was damaged by flak and belly landed East Wretham

Another a/c, possibly R1532 which went to Dieppe, had an encounter with a fighter and apparently returned unscathed after jetissoning over the sea.
