POST 3620.
Photo 2. B-17E 41-2633 "Sally" (to 19BG N. Guinea 1942) camouflage stripped for Gen. Kenney's transport. Scrapped 1945 in Australia. 3. C-87 Liberator 44-39265 "Clarice" with ATC India; crashed on flight Jorhat - Kunming May 5 1945 at Golaghat near Jorhat. Probably weather. MACR 14361. 5. B-24J 44-40395 "Bob's Hope" 43BG with 64BS badge, Indian boy on bomb with telescope; black tail stripe and "395". Bob Hope, Frances Langford and Gerry Colona toured together over many miles. Salvaged 1945. 6. B-17F 41-24403 "The Old Man" 43BG N. Guinea, ex. 19BG "Blitz Buggy"; allocated to Maj. Gen. Ennis Whitehead for his use. Mission markers removed and "403" on tail. Probably scrapped. ...................................... 1. P-47D "Short Stuff" (?) whole cowling coloured suggests Ninth AF, one of 6 Groups. 7. P-38J possibly (?) 474FG Ninth AF, "5" on boom and square on tail could be F5-N 44-23652 (652 on nose"). Nick Last edited by Buckeye30; 10th November 2025 at 12:12. Reason: Moved to this forum.

1. B-24J "Reddy Teddy" 42-51551 448BG as EI-P; artwork of Bugs Bunny on left side. Typical Ford Willow Run "stepped" anti-glare panel. Survived. 2. (B-29 on "Japanese & Allied" forum Post 67). 3. P-39N 42-18815 35FG N. Guinea 1943 / 44 with 41FS yellow markings; cowboy "Whiskey Pete" on left door. Nose number may be left over from previous owner as there were many exchanges. 4 & 5. CAC Boomerang A46-93 No.4 Sqn. RAAF N.Guinea 43-44; looks like Earth Brown-Foliage Green- Sky Blue. Written off 20 July 44 as per ADF serials. Nick

#7 is the often photographed K9251/HA-K of 218 Sqn, abandoned at Aubérive on 15 May 1940.
