Hans Langer II/JG-51

LANGER, Hans. (DOB: 1922 in E Prussia). 03.42 with Stab II./JG 53. 19.05.43 Uffz., with 4./JG 51. 08.43 with 2./JG 51. 02.11.43 Uffz., 4./JG 51. 28.12.43 Uffz., with 6./JG 51. 31.08.44 Uffz., 5./JG51. 08.12.44 Uffz., 5./?JG 51. (n.d.) with JG 7. Credited with 47 victories. Shot down at least 6
times. [don't know if he was an officer!]

This is the citation for Hans Langer who was a successful pilot w/ II/JG-51. In the JG-51 book (Aders-Held) , he is listed with "+10" victories w/ 3 four mots. This seems more accurate than the 47 reported in the Luftwaffe Officer list. He is also ranked as a Fw. in the book

Re: Hans Langer II/JG-51

I am not sure what is your question-is it the number of his victories and/or whether he was commissioned or not?

Re: Hans Langer II/JG-51

I guess my question would be: Are the 47 victories listed in the LW Officer List accurate?

For what it is worth Johannes Matthews lists him with 9+ claims. I doubt he (and Aders/Held)
would lack that many claims!

47 sounds very much like wishful thinking....

Cheers
Stig
