Recommendations for Book on German Ace Hans-Joachim Marseille

Hello everyone,

I am seeking a recommendation for an English language book on the career of German ace Hans-Joachim Marseille. Do I need to buy the 2025 book (440 pages) just to be thorough? Or perhaps I should just rely upon my copies of Shores, Massimello, Guest, Olynyk & Bock's revised A History of the Mediterranean Air War? The list below is certainly not exhaustive. I expect that there are translations of German and French biographies out there.

I have both Kurowski's and Heaton's book, and like both greatly. In both books Marseille comes across as a very human man in a mad world. A fascinating character. If you want to learn about the man either will satisfy.

But if you want to try and match Marseille's claims against actual Allied losses, I suggest Shores 'A History of the Mediterranean Air War' as the go to book.

Are you referring to Heaton's 2025 book or the 2012 biography with Anne-Marie Lewis?

I was unaware of this book Philippe. Thank you.

At this time I am more interested in a biography than a history of the planes he flew.

I feel it necessary to add this link from the Wikipedia page on Marseille biographer Franz Kurowski.

My choice is now between the biographies by Heaton & Lewis or Tate. I went ahead and purchased the article by Andrew Arthy which is excellent.

The Heaton and Lewis book.

The only book I have of Kurowski is the Marseille book. Don't know who made that claim on Wiki, but as regards the Marseille book I have no issues with it.
